How can 'Reset' Employee health and safety post –covid

Introduction

Many firms are making a more deliberate effort to address hazards and exposures that were identified or made worse by the pandemic in the aftermath of Covid-19. Here are five areas to concentrate on that will provide you the greatest bang for your buck in terms of time, effort, and money.

Improve ventilation :  Garment workers may be exposed to a type of cotton dust that contains endotoxins, pollutants, and germs that can cause major respiratory difficulties due to the nature of their employment (Lynton & Parkee, 2000). Proper ventilation can help reduce dust in the workplace and address other issues with indoor air quality.

Provide effective PPE : Apparel manufacturing companies stepped up to mass produce masks and other PPE for the public during the pandemic but shouldn’t forget about the urgent need for proper PPE in their own workplaces (Saarbrucken & Ivancevich, 2001). Garment workers are exposed not only to dust, but also to chemicals used in fabric production when they handle finished material.

Redesign workstation physical distancing : Even once Covid-19 has subsided, keeping workers physically separated can help prevent the spread of other infectious diseases. Clients should be aware of how workers are physically separated from one another not only at workstations, but also at other times such as while clocking in and out and taking breaks.

Step up cleaning and sanitizing :  Not only can good housekeeping and keeping the workplace clean and sterilized assist avoid the transmission of illness, but it also helps to prevent other risks like fire and slips, trips, and falls. Clothing producers should continue to clean and sanitize their work and common areas on a regular basis (Grobler, et al., 2002).

Expand employee training and communication : Encourage your clients to keep training and informing their personnel about the necessity of avoiding virus infection. Businesses should teach employees on proper handwashing and hand sanitizer use, cough and sneeze etiquette, and staying home when sick with a contagious illness, according to the CDC.

Conclusion

It is in everyone's best interest to keep workers safe while keeping factories running so that workers can earn a living and orders can be delivered on time.
